Can I use a Binance referral code in a restricted country?

It depends on which restriction applies. Since 1 July 2026 users registered in the EU/EEA cannot take part in the Binance referral programme at all, and Binance no longer opens EU accounts. UK users can hold accounts but receive no referral incentive under FCA rules. In the US binance.com is not available. Switzerland and the other markets where Binance accepts new users work normally with PRM26.

Three kinds of restriction on the Binance referral code

“Restricted country” covers three different situations, and the answer differs for each. In the first, Binance does not serve the country at all, so there is no account to attach a code to: the US, Canada’s Ontario and, since 1 July 2026, the EU and EEA for new users. In the second, an account is possible but the referral programme is closed to residents by Binance’s own referral terms: the UK, Singapore, Turkey, Hong Kong, Nigeria, Israel and users of the Binance FZE entity, plus Japan for referees. There the code is accepted or ignored, but no rebate is ever paid. In the third group, which covers most markets, Binance accepts new users and the referral programme applies normally; Switzerland, from where we made our own test registration with PRM26, is one of them.

EU and EEA: what changed on 1 July 2026

Binance withdrew its MiCA application on 24 June 2026 and on 1 July 2026 stopped sign-ups, trading and deposits for EU and EEA users. Existing EU accounts can still withdraw. On the referral side the additional notes are equally blunt: effective 1 July 2026, users registered under EEA countries are no longer eligible to participate in the referral programme in any capacity and cannot receive any referral commissions. That closes both doors for EU residents. PRM26 cannot be used to open an EU account, and an existing EU account earns no rebate. Registering through a VPN from an excluded region is not a workaround. Binance’s referral terms disqualify users in restricted regions as referrers and referees, and its FAQ states that a referral cannot be applied to an account that breaches the Terms of Use. KYC ties the account to a real address, so the rebate is lost either way, and the account may be too.

United Kingdom: an account is possible, a rebate is not

The UK case is the one the old version of this page got wrong. Binance’s additional notes record that on 8 October 2023 the Financial Conduct Authority’s Financial Promotions Regime took effect, under which UK retail users cannot receive any incentive to trade, and that Binance responded by removing future commissions from both new and existing UK-based users. Binance is also not authorised for UK retail customers. So a UK user who enters PRM26 gets no 20% rebate and no reward vouchers; the code is inert. The fee levers that remain are the ones open to every account: the BNB discount of 25% on spot and margin fees and 10% on futures, maker orders on futures at 0.020% instead of 0.050%, and VIP tiers.

  1. Check the registration form first If your country is not offered there, no code changes that.
  2. Then check the referral terms If your country appears in the additional notes, the account may work but the rebate will not.
  3. If you move country Binance’s notes tell users whose residential address changes to submit a new proof of address; the account is reviewed and updated, and the referral relationship stays as it was recorded at registration.

Binance referral code in restricted countries: common questions

Does the Binance referral code work in the EU?
No. Binance stopped EU/EEA sign-ups, trading and deposits on 1 July 2026 after withdrawing its MiCA application on 24 June 2026, and its referral terms exclude EEA-registered users from the programme in any capacity from 1 July 2026. Existing EU accounts can withdraw only.
Does the Binance referral code work in the UK?
An account may be possible, but the code pays nothing. Under the FCA’s financial promotions regime of 8 October 2023 Binance removed referral commissions for new and existing UK users, and Binance is not authorised for UK retail customers.
Does PRM26 work on Binance.US?
No. binance.com is not available in the US, and Binance.US is a separate company with its own referral programme. PRM26 is a binance.com Referral Pro code and applies only there.
Does the Binance referral code work in Switzerland?
Yes. Switzerland is outside the EEA, Binance accepts Swiss users, and our own test registration with PRM26 was made from Switzerland. The account receives the 20% rebate on spot and margin fees and up to 20% on futures for 12 months.
What happens to my referral if I move to another country?
Binance asks users whose residential address changes to submit a new proof of address and reviews the account. The referral relationship recorded at registration is not changed; whether rebates continue then depends on whether the new country is excluded by Binance’s referral terms.
