Kinsta vs Cloudways: two billing models, no renewal step

Kinsta sells a plan defined by sites, visits and storage at one list price, billed monthly or yearly. Cloudways rents you a cloud server by the hour and invoices the previous month’s use in the first week of each month; you put as many sites on it as the server holds. Neither host shows an introductory rate that steps up later.

List prices before tax. On top of the Cloudways figures, depending on use: offsite backup storage at 0.033 USD per GB per server and bandwidth beyond the included transfer at 0.02 USD per GB on DigitalOcean.

A CDN changes the Cloudways sum, not the order. Cloudways’ CDN option, Cloudflare Enterprise, is a paid add-on on the Flexible server plans, and the pricing page gives no price for it (23 September 2026). It is a different product from the CDN in Kinsta’s plan, so it is not added to the table; the gap to Kinsta’s 350 USD is 218 USD a year on a 1 GB server and 62 USD on a 2 GB server before it. Cloudways does not say how many visits a server size handles; choosing the size is your job.

Verdict: Kinsta vs Cloudways

Price and total cost: Cloudways, 132 USD a year on a 1 GB server or 288 USD on 2 GB against Kinsta’s 350 USD, with no prepayment. Renewal: neither steps up. Inclusions: Kinsta includes a CDN; Cloudways sells one. Staging and migrations are free at both; Kinsta’s backups need no extra storage fee. Traffic: Cloudways, with unlimited visits against Kinsta’s metered 35,000. Support: 24/7 chat at both, tickets at Cloudways, 8 languages at Kinsta. Refunds: Kinsta, 30 days against none stated.

Our verdict, and the interest behind it. On this page’s criteria Cloudways wins: lower cost in every period in the table, no prepayment and no visit limit, if you are willing to choose and size a server. Kinsta, which pays this site a commission (affiliate link, disclosed), fits if you want a CDN and, as a first-time customer, a 30-day refund window inside one list price and would rather buy a visit allowance than size a server.

Kinsta vs Cloudways: common questions

How much cheaper is Cloudways than Kinsta?
Cloudways’ 1 GB DigitalOcean server costs 11 USD a month, 396 USD over 36 months. Kinsta Single 35k costs 1,050 USD over 36 months on annual billing, 1,260 USD on monthly billing. A 2 GB Cloudways server costs 864 USD over the same period. Prices before tax, read 23 September 2026.

Not on the server plans compared here. Cloudways sells Cloudflare Enterprise as a paid add-on and gives no price for it on its pricing page; its Autonomous plans include it. Kinsta includes its own CDN with edge caching on Single 35k, with 125 GB of CDN bandwidth a month.
Can I get my money back from Cloudways?
Cloudways’ pricing page states no money-back window. It offers a 3-day free trial without a credit card and invoices use after each month. Kinsta refunds first-time customers who cancel within 30 days of activation, excluding overages.

On Cloudways, as many as the server holds: its pricing page lists unlimited websites and visits per server. Kinsta Single 35k covers one WordPress install; each additional site costs 30 USD a month, or WP 2 hosts two sites for 70 USD a month.
