Best WordPress Hosting in 2026

No host wins all five criteria here. Cloudways has the lowest price with no renewal step, 11 USD a month for a 1 GB server billed hourly; SiteGround has phone support and no visit cap; WP Engine keeps backups longest. Kinsta, which pays us a commission, costs 35 USD a month or 350 USD a year at list price. Figures from the hosts’ own pages, 22 and 23 September 2026.

The Cloudways button is a plain link; we have no partnership with Cloudways. The Kinsta button is an affiliate link: Kinsta pays us a commission if you sign up through it, and you pay Kinsta’s list price either way.

How the best WordPress hosting candidates were compared

Kinsta, WP Engine, Cloudways, SiteGround, Bluehost and Hostinger were checked on five criteria, using only their own pricing pages: renewal against introductory price; included backups, staging, CDN and migrations; traffic model and overage; support channel; refund window. Nothing was measured. SiteGround prices by storefront (see the FAQ). The hardware and caching each host publishes are compared on fastest WordPress hosting, not repeated here.

All six pricing pages, read 22 September 2026; all except Bluehost re-read 23 September 2026. 11 USD is Cloudways’ standard rate beside a promotional banner.

Multiply the renewal rate by twelve. Bluehost at 9.99 USD is 119.88 USD a year, Hostinger 131.88 USD, SiteGround 191.88 EUR or 215.88 USD. Kinsta’s list price is 350 USD, Cloudways 132 USD (1 GB server) or 288 USD (2 GB). Kinsta costs 2.7 times Hostinger’s renewal rate, not 9.8 times its introductory price.

Verdict: which host wins which criterion

Renewal price: Cloudways, the only host below Kinsta with no renewal step (11 USD for 1 GB, 24 for 2 GB, against 35); you rent a server, and the Cloudflare Enterprise CDN is a paid add-on. Bluehost has the lowest renewal rate, 9.99 USD a month, but only after a 36-month prepaid term at 3.99. Inclusions: a draw between Kinsta and WP Engine; WP Engine keeps backups longer, Kinsta migrates unlimited sites with its own team. Traffic: SiteGround and Cloudways publish no visit cap. Support: SiteGround, with chat, tickets and phone on every plan; Kinsta and WP Engine are chat only. Refunds: 30 days at four hosts; WP Engine’s plans page states none; Cloudways has none, but nothing is prepaid.

No host wins every criterion, and Kinsta wins none outright. Lowest lasting price: Cloudways (plain link). Phone support and no visit cap: SiteGround (plain link). Longest backup retention: WP Engine (plain link). Kinsta, which pays us a commission, fits if you want one list price with migrations by the host’s team, staging and a CDN included, and a written overage rule; you pay the same price through our link.

Best WordPress hosting in 2026: common questions

Which host has the lowest price after renewal?
Bluehost Starter renews at 9.99 USD a month, after 36 months at 3.99. Cloudways charges 11 USD a month for its smallest server from the start, billed hourly with no step. Hostinger renews at 10.99 USD after 48 months, SiteGround StartUp at 15.99 EUR or 17.99 USD, by storefront. Kinsta’s list price is 35 USD, or 350 USD a year.
Does Kinsta have an introductory price that goes up later?
No step-up is built in: Kinsta’s plan page shows one list price, 35 USD a month or 350 USD a year for Single 35k, with annual billing two months free and a first month free for new customers on some plans. Its terms do allow fee increases with reasonable prior notice.
Which hosts include staging on the entry plan?
Kinsta, WP Engine, Cloudways and Bluehost. SiteGround includes it from GrowBig, not on StartUp. Hostinger lists a one-click staging tool without naming the plan it belongs to.
What happens when a site exceeds its visit limit?
On Kinsta the site stays online, you are notified at 80 and 100 percent of the allowance, and the excess is billed per additional 1,000 visits. WP Engine says overages may apply and invoices them monthly. SiteGround and Cloudways publish no visit cap; Bluehost and Hostinger publish no overage price.
Why is SiteGround quoted in euros and dollars?
SiteGround prices its plans by storefront: 2.99 EUR renewing at 15.99 EUR before VAT on its euro site, 2.99 USD renewing at 17.99 USD on its US-dollar site (23 September 2026). The renewal is 5.3 times the intro price in euros and 6 times in dollars. Check which currency your checkout shows.
