Which One Should You Pick?

Pick Binance if…

you want lower total futures costs, deeper liquidity on major pairs, or the BNB fee discount — and you are in a jurisdiction where Binance still operates.

Pick KuCoin if…

you specifically need access to smaller-cap listings Binance does not carry, or want free built-in trading bots — and you can access it legally from your jurisdiction.

On spot fees these two are identical at 0.10%. The real cost difference appears in futures, where KuCoin charges a 0.060% taker rate plus a 0.025% settlement fee against Binance’s flat 0.050%. KuCoin’s counterweight is selection — 848 listed coins to Binance’s 486 — plus free native trading bots. Neither is a clean regulatory choice in Europe right now: Binance withdrew its MiCA application and left, while KuCoin’s Austrian entity holds a licence but was barred by the FMA from commencing business in February 2026, a prohibition still in force at the time of writing.

Verify KuCoin EU’s operational status directly before acting — its Austrian entity remains under an FMA prohibition on commencing business per the most recent official update. Coin counts use one common source and methodology (August 2026). All fees are base-tier.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Binance better than KuCoin in 2026?
On spot fees they are identical at 0.10%, but Binance is cheaper on futures — KuCoin adds a 0.025% settlement fee on top of a higher 0.060% taker rate. KuCoin lists far more coins (848 versus 486) and includes free trading bots. Regulatory standing is weak for both in the EU: Binance withdrew from the market, and KuCoin’s Austrian entity is licensed but barred from commencing operations.
Which is cheaper, Binance or KuCoin?
Binance, once you trade futures. Spot is identical at 0.10% maker and taker on both, but KuCoin charges 0.060% taker plus a 0.025% settlement fee against Binance’s 0.050% with no settlement charge. Paying Binance fees in BNB widens the gap further.
Can I use both Binance and KuCoin?
In permitted jurisdictions, yes — traders often use KuCoin for smaller-cap listings not available on Binance. Neither is currently a practical option for EU residents, and both are unavailable to US users.
Does Binance offer a sign-up bonus that KuCoin does not?
Binance runs a referral programme with a 20% rebate on spot and margin fees for the life of the account plus tiered new-user rewards, currently advertised at up to $19,800 in task-based vouchers subject to KYC and activity conditions. KuCoin runs periodic promotions but no equivalent standing fee rebate. Neither is currently claimable by EU residents.
